

To Whom It May Concern...When one apologizes, the polite response is to accept. When one applies for law school, the polite response need not be to accept; so long as the response is politely worded, the law school feels that they have been polite to their applicant. Much of the law is filled with quandaries like this. Students study the art of diplomacy and learn that it is merely saying "nice doggie" until one finds a rock; one learns through experience that every lawyer joke in the book is true. HueI have always been very color-oriented. Images from my childhood run through my head periodically like clips from old-fashioned home movies, faded and clicking. I remember running through white space towards a doorway onto yellow. Mom says that I'm seeing our old house in San Francisco, and the white space was our dining room, the yellow space the kitchen. I remember that at the top of the stairs, I would immediately turn left to get into my room, which was a soft, bluish space.
